Applying to Surrey Fire & Rescue Service?
Practise the NFA firefighter selection tests — Working with Numbers, Understanding Information, and Situational Awareness — with timed simulations built for Surrey Fire & Rescue candidates.
Surrey Fire & Rescue
Surrey Fire & Rescue Service covers one of England's most affluent and complex county environments — high-density commuter towns, extensive motorway networks including the M25, and large areas of Surrey Hills countryside. Competition for wholetime roles is particularly strong given the county's location and quality of life.
Surrey FRS uses the National Firefighter Selection process. The NFA written ability tests are administered online and candidates must achieve pass marks in all three before proceeding to physical and interview assessment.
Surrey's proximity to London and strong transport links mean the service attracts a large number of well-prepared applicants. Getting a strong score on the NFA tests — not just a bare pass — helps your position in competitive fields where many candidates meet the minimum standard.
The Working with Numbers test for Surrey candidates is the same nationally standardised test used across England and Wales. No fire-specific knowledge is required — the test uses fictional scenarios and figures. What matters is numerical accuracy, speed, and the ability to work without a calculator.
The three NFA tests
All three simulations are included for £14.99. Each is timed, scored, and comes with full answer explanations.
Working with Numbers
45 min · 32 questions
Numerical reasoning using fire-service data. No calculator.
Understanding Information
35 min · 25 questions
Read a passage and answer True / False / Cannot Say questions.
Situational Awareness
35 min · 30 questions
Fire-service SJT scenarios — most and least appropriate responses.
